Healeys Lagoon is a 5km long iconic freshwater system that retains many of its original high conservation features despite its use for irrigation water supply and storage, being surrounded by intensive sugar cane agriculture and subject to severe invasion by aquatic weeds. It is prized as a Barramundi habitat and retains connectivity to the Cromarty wetlands immediately downstream.
