History
The NQ Dry Tropics (formerly Burdekin Dry Tropics NRM) operates as a community based, not-for-profit company established in 2002 to deliver on-ground Natural Resource Management (NRM) activities and enhance the community's involvement in those issues throughout the Dry Tropics Catchments.
The NQ Dry Tropics receives base-level funding through The Australian Government’s Caring for our Country natural resource management initiative. This program to address the declining condition of natural resources in Australia. Caring for our Country is designed as an integrated package with one clear goal, a business approach to investment, clearly articulated outcomes and priorities and improved accountability. This initiative aims to integrate delivery of the Commonwealth's previous natural resource management programs, the Natural Heritage Trust, the National Action Plan for Salinity and Water Quality, the National Landcare Program, the Environmental Stewardship Program and the Working on Country Indigenous land and environmental program
Trading as the NQ Dry Tropics, Burdekin Solution Ltd. has 10 company directors, 1 company secretary and three government advisors. These include and Independent Chair and Directors for: Biophysical Science, Social Science, two for Local Government, five for the sub-regions, two Traditional Owner Directors (a male and a female), a State Government advisor, an Australian Government advisor, and a Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority advisor.

To have an enpowered community that delivers solutions to natural resource management issues for the best environmental, social, cultural and economic outcomes in the Dry Tropics Catchments.
