Location

18 degrees 52' 02" S, 146 degrees 15' 15" E; the site has a general southeast to northwest orientation with a length of c. 16 km and a width of up to 7.5 km, with its centre 20 km south southeast of Ingham.

Significance

The area is representative of tidal and associated brackish and freshwater swamps in the drier parts of the Wet Tropics bioregion. It is a major part of a highly significant coastal habitat corridor that runs from south of Hinchinbrook Channel to just north of Townsville.
