Burdekin Delta DOIW
19 degrees 40' 17" S, 147 degrees 33' 15" E; the site extends c. 45 km from north to south along the coast and 13 km from east to west, with its centre 18 km east southeast of Ayr. The northern section of the site falls within the Burdekin-Haughton catchment and the southern section lies within the Don catchment.
The largest delta on the east coast of Australia, on one of Queensland's largest rivers. The aggregation provides an outstanding example of the ecological and geomorphological processes that occur at the mouth of a large tropical river.
