Location

The site comprises the Barratta Creeks system north from the Bruce Highway to the old townsite of Barratta. Its centre is located at 19 degrees 32' 41" S, 147 degrees 13' 47" E about 18 kilometres west of Ayr.

Significance

The site provides an outstanding example of the sequence of wetland development on the seaward margin of a prograding coastal plain.
