Wairuna Lake DOIW
The site is a shallow lake in a depression of a backplain between low hills and a section of the Burdekin River. The catchment is a localised portion of the Wairuna plain which drains northward into the site via a number of unnamed streams. The site is drained northwards into the Burdekin River. 18 degrees 26' 10" S, 145 degrees 22' 57" E; the site extends c. 4 km in a northwest-southeast direction and is up to 1 km wide, with its centre c. 66 km north northeast of Greenvale.
A good example of a wetland type typical of the upper Burdekin River area.
